I am an award-winning musician, a visually impaired leader, a TIME100 Next honouree, and a sitting Senator of the Republic of Kenya. Diagnosed with glaucoma as a teenager, I learned early that limitation is often defined by systems, not by people. That understanding has shaped everything I do.

I serve in Parliament as the first and only senator representing persons with disabilities, women and youth, alongside creatives. My work is grounded in lived experience and focused on changing the structures that decide who is seen, heard, and included.

A Harvard Law School fellow and One Young World ambassador, I led the passage of Kenya’s most significant disability reform in decades through the Persons with Disabilities Act, 2025, shifting the country’s approach from charity to enforceable rights.

Through the Crystal Asige Foundation, that work continues beyond lawmaking. We break down barriers to education, work and enterprise and we push systems to meet the standards they set for themselves. Inclusion is not the goal. Access and accountability are.
